Alkaline Earth Metals: Group 2 on the periodic table of elements, although they are less reactive than the alkali metals
About Alkaline Earth Metals
The alkaline earth metals are group 2 on the periodic table. Even though the name alkaline and alkali sound similar, I can assure you they are totally different. I know that when I first heard about the alkali metals and the alkaline earth metals I thought they were the same. But I soon found out that they were different. Although, the alkaline earth metals are next to the the alkali metals, which are very reactive. The alkaline earth metals aren't as reactive because, the way the periodic table is organized, from left to right the periodic table's groups get more reactive as they go from left to right.
